Record grading explained

We want to leave you in no doubt about the quality of Vinyl Records you will be buying from us and advise you to read the following information.

THE "A" SIDE OF ALL SINGLES AND BOTH SIDES OF ALL EP'S HAVE BEEN HEARD IN THEIR ENTIRITY AND GRADED ACCORDINGLY.

All our records are hand cleaned using an isopropynol solution prior to grading. They are then played on an MTTI turntable through a Kenwood system and listened to through the speakers as headphones can mask a lot of surface noise. If a records sound quality falls between two grades then we automatically drop to the lower grade and price accordingly as we want our customers to keep coming back to us.

Our records are graded on sound quality only. The physical appearance of the record may, on some occasions, not match the sound grading. If you are concerned about the appearance of a particular record then e-mail us as we have the facility to scan records and sleeves. Records come with either a Company sleeve, picture sleeve or where neither is available a brand new plain white sleeve.

GRADING PRE-FIXES & FULL EXPLANATIONS

NM = NEAR MINT
Sounds as new with no deterioration in sound quality.
EX = EXCELLENT
The record shows some signs of having been played but with only a very slight reduction in sound quality.
VG = VERY GOOD
The record has been played many times but there is no major reduction in sound quality.
G = GOOD
The sound quality of the record has deteriorated, but plays all the way through without repeating or jumping.
BB = BARGAIN BASEMENT
These records fall below the levels described previosly for one reason or another. The most common reason is that they jump or repeat. Many of these records will play to a much higher standard using a heavier tracking weight such as on a jukebox.
JB = JUKEBOX
Records with this prefix have either had the centre removed or were manufactured that way. If you wish to have a centre of a record removed for your Jukebox then we have the facility to do this for you.
